We have a team of qualified practice nurses who between them they have a wealth of experience and knowledge across a wide range of specialties. The treatment room nurses can be seen on a ‘walk in basis’ as well as by appointment. They also run specialist clinics for asthma, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

From August 1st 2008 The nurses are available between 08.30 – 12.30 on a walk in basis and 3.00– 5.30pm on an appointment basis only, please ring for an afternoon appointment, there will be a proportion of appts available on the same day but you may have to wait until your appointment time to be seen.
Asthma As part of their long-term management all asthma patients are encouraged to attend the asthma clinic regularly. This is to ensure optimum control. A reminder will be sent to patients when their clinic visit is due. Advice and monitoring will be given by the Nursing Team. support and advice is also offered for smoking cessation. This clinic is only intended for long-term asthma management. For urgent asthma care, please make an appointment with any doctor in the usual way. Baby Clinic The Health Visitors are available to give immunisations, weigh babies and offer advice Mondays and Wednesdays 12.30 - 14.30. Medical checks are carried out on all 8 week old babies. Health Visitors can be contacted on 646563 or 673902. Cardiovascular ClinicAll patients with cardiovascular problems (angina, heart attacks, strokes or TIAs) are encouraged to attend the cardiovascular clinic annually. This is to ensure optimum control of risk factors. A reminder will be sent to patients when their clinic visit is due.We can offer advice on the main causes of heart disease: smoking, high blood pressure, a family history of heart attacks or stroke, high cholesterol and obesity. Please make an appointment with the nurses. Cervical Smears Routine three-yearly smears are done by our practice nurses. We recommend the patient rings for a convenient appointment. Child Immunisations We recommend the full programme of vaccinations for 0-5 year olds, which may be given on Monday or Wednesday afternoons or during any other nurse clinic. If you have concerns about any vaccination, feel free to consult the health visitors, doctors or nurses. Contraception We are able to provide a wide range of contraception within the surgery. Our nurses and all the doctors can advise you during routine appointments on all aspects of contraception, pills (including emergency contraception), diaphragms, IUCDs, coils and sterilisation. Dr Davies and Dr Lloyd hold specialist qualifications in family planning that enable them to fit intrauterine devices (coils). This confidential service is available to patients of any age who require advice. Diabetes All diabetic patients have a comprehensive annual checkup, which includes testing blood, urine and a physical examination. Screening for possible eye problems linked with diabetes is undertaken and all our diabetic patients are also referred for retinal photography and dietary advice. Drs Donagh and O’Connor run this clinic with the Practice Nurses during normal surgery hours. For more urgent diabetic advice, please see any of the doctors. Travel AdviceVaccination requirements can be obtained from the following link together with useful advice on individual destinations http://www.fitfortravel.scot.nhs.uk/ Make an appointment with our nurses eight weeks in advance of travel for them to give any necessary vaccinations and malaria prevention for ANY destination worldwide. Most of the vaccinations can be done at the surgery including Yellow Fever. The World Health Organisation has designated the surgery a private Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre. Please note that, although the advice is free, some vaccinations are not available on the NHS and there will be a charge.
